With no weekly deadline, I'm more interested in blogging
Usually, when I lay out goals and input recurring tasks into my calendar, I'm more likely to stick to them.
For instance, when I challenged myself to blog for 30 days straight, I got it done. After that challenge was over, I set a goal to write these personal blog posts once a week and did that for a while.
A couple of weeks ago, I said that I would take a break from blogging weekly. I would still blog, but I wouldn't force myself to publish once a week.
Since I made that announcement, I've actually been thinking about blogging and writing (but not necessarily publishing) more frequently.
Weird, huh?
Blogging weekly started to become a burden. I would have this recurring calendar entry for Friday morning that I would dread. Aren't we supposed to be happy when Friday rolls around?
But ever since I quit the weekly deadline, I've thought more about blogging. Topics would pop into mind more often. And I'm actually writing more often. At the time of this writing, I have three blog post drafts that I'm actively writing simultaneously. I don't think that's ever happened in my history of blogging.
So maybe it's more about the process than the output. Maybe having the weight of a weekly deadline is counter-productive.
I'm not really sure, but it's had an interesting, opposite effect.
Maybe the absence of a deadline is freeing my mind, and allowing me to enjoy this task more.
We'll see how long this lasts!
